Bitcoin Poker – New Direction for US Players?

If you haven’t heard about bitcoins by now then you might want to read up on them here. In short, bitcoins are a digital currency that can be transferred anonymously to and from anyone with a bitcoin wallet. Bitcoins can be ‘mined’ by using the processing power of your computer and they have a market price of around $3 per BTC (bitcoin).

Bitcoins are a grey area. Because they can be traded anonymously and have no governing body or centralised bank, they can be used to purchase or sell anything. Already bitcoins have been used in a number of ways to purchase products that would otherwise be banned including poker.

Already some websites have set up that allow US players to deposit and play poker using bitcoins. You can then withdraw your bitcoins and convert them back into dollars from any of the bitcoin exchange sites. However the legality of using bitcoins to play poker is not clear and many US players have stayed away from it because of this.

Currently this bitcoin poker site is only open to UK players due to licensing issues – however there may come a time when the use of bitcoins becomes a clear option for US poker players looking to play cards online.

Apple iPad Projector

A lot of iPad users are unaware of ultra portable and iPad-compatible projectors that make watching your 7″ content a much more emmersive experience. Whether you are looking to play games on a bigger screen, watch movies with friends or present to a large audience – an iPad projector will allow you to do all of that almost 200″ from just a tiny iPad or iPad 2 screen.

iPad Projectors for iPad 2

The initial iPad model was not particularly compatible with any projectors. Microvision launched a projector called the SHOWWX that allowed connectivity to the iPad as well as all VGA devices. It was the first of its kind to really be a success in the industry and since then many pocket projectors have followed. Just over a year on from the initial SHOWWX release, the SHOWWX+ HDMI has come to market that allows connectivity to any device with a HDMI socket. And yes, that includes the iPad 2. This iPad projector still has the same ultra small (iPhone sized) shell and was designed largely to work as an iPad 2 projector. With a higher contrast and brighter display than much of its competitors, the SHOWWX+ HDMI is certainly one of the best ‘pico’ projectors around for iPad and iPad 2.

iPad 3 Projector?

If the rumours are true then we may expect to see built in projectors for the iPad 3 and iPhone 5 in 2012. This would dramatically increase the usability of the iPad but it may also wipe out the market for iPad specific projectors.

But forget the rumours. If you are the owner of an iPad or iPad 2 then you should really take a closer look at these iPad projectors – arguably one of the best mobile devices of 2011.

Garage Door DIY

roller garage door

Last night my husband went out to put his car in the garage. When he got in the car (that was parked up against the front of the garage door) he turned the engine on and there was a huge bang! He had left the car in gear and as a result the 4×4 lunged forward and put a 2 metre dent straight into the middle section of the garage door.

So after a little searching around the web looking for new roller garage doors I found the perfect option. No costly installation was required as these roller doors were ‘DIY’ (I didn’t think they existed?!). The lower cost instantly got me interested and so I purchased one of the roller garage doors from Easy Fit. 3 hours (of watching my husband install the door) later it was all finished, remote control operation and everything! Great roller garage doors, couldn’t be happier with such a dreadful start to the weekend!

Projecting from your iPad 2

Well I didn’t think it was possible but it certainly is. I just made a quick search for ‘ipad projector’ and found this awesome thing!

I’m definitely considering using it for my iPad 2. Has anyone else used one of these before (the Microvision one that is)? I also hear that Microvision are bringing out a new SHOWWX+ model that can hook up to anything through an HDMI cable. Pretty damn awesomo if you ask me! Anyway, he’s a lovely picture of this new gadget taken straight from ipadprojector.org

Shameful School Books Scam

A website popped up on my Twitter the other day talking about some horrible ‘school books scam’. I then read the blog post that it linked to and it was pretty shameful! A UK based ‘company’ was ringing around businesses telling them that 6 months ago they had agreed to donate books to some schools. Of course this conversation never happened but the more generous and forgetful business owners would simply cave in and admit to something they didn’t do! Of course donating books to schools is a lovely thing to do, which makes arguing your point that little bit more difficult.

Anyway, the blog post is now trying to out ranking TIB-Ltd for the keyword ‘TIB Ltd‘ and they suggested posting that link to help them outrank the scammers in Google. A great plan if you ask me! You can read the blog post here:

Why You Might Need Mobile Phone Insurance

insuranceIf your friends or family have told you that you need to get mobile phone insurance and you are not sure if you want to spend the money for it, this short article might be able to provide you a little insight that will help you make your decision.

Mobile phone insurance will cover the cost of your phone in the event it is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. If you happen to be one of those that are always losing and breaking everything that you own, then it would certainly be able to save you some money when the inevitable happens.

Another instance where protecting yourself with mobile phone insurance is a good idea is when you are in a contract with a mobile phone provider that you cannot get out of if something happens to your phone before the contract is completed and fully paid off.

These companies themselves purchase the phones as a way to entice people into what often inflated contracts are when compared to you actually owning the phone yourself. They do this because you will not have to spend a great deal of money up front on a phone and they can get you into a long term and often expensive contract.

Most of these contracts do not allow you to get out of them without paying them off completely. So, if you happen to lose your phone at the beginning of the contract and desire another one, you just might have to pay off the entire contract before the provider will supply you one. In many cases, the amount required to pay off the phone will be much more than the phone itself cost. If this is the circumstance you are currently in, then obtaining mobile phone insurance would certainly be a very good idea.

Do Canvas Bags really save the Earth?

Canvas BagsCanvas bags are a tried and true product that goes back so far, it’s difficult to pinpoint and would rouse much debate.  Nowadays with things going “Green”, or more Earth friendly in terms of materials the question about such bags and their importance arises.

These bags are sturdy or they wouldn’t have been around so long.  Reliable when constructed properly, they can carry precious goods and necessities with an assurance of protection from the minor scrapes, bumps, and grime that might otherwise sully them.   The bags are of such a construct that even pets find it a hard time breaching them with their teeth.  However, the impact on the environment is what is noteworthy here and canvas bags are considered to be an environmental friendly product.

They aren’t constructed with harsh chemicals and vitriolic solutions, just woven plant fibres that are constructed in various grades and weave patterns.  No animals were killed in the construction of that favourite canvas bag your Aunt Martha gave you for your birthday.

In regards to manufacture, it isn’t an energy consuming monster that produces canvas bags, just simple processes that are far less labour intensive than linen production.  We’re not talking massive chemical use and the destruction of entire rain forests but the use of cotton, which is a tough little plant and the weaving of the fibres into a tough material that can be both fashionable, decorative and quite useful by just about anyone who has one.  You won’t have to worry about chemicals being poured into the rivers and streams nor animals being harmed in any way.  Just plain old cotton being woven by people who know what a good product canvas bags can be.

So when you’re out and about and shopping for canvas bags, you’ll be assured that you’re doing something for the environment and protecting and safeguarding the world you live on to a good degree.  If you feel it’s your responsibility to do your part regarding the global environment, then by all means those bags are just your cup of tea.
